Top 21 Ideas Released
The list below was finalized by the Idea Selection Committee
based on input from 124 people who attended the Vernon Research seminars and 354
online voters.
In alphabetical order, they are:
§ Beautify the north and south entrances to the city
§ Have bike lanes on all roadways with bike racks place appropriately
§ Clean up abandoned industrial sites
§ Develop Linn Creek into a riverwalk
§ Develop Riverview Park with water and/or recreation activities
§ Expand and improve the recreational trail system
§ Expand, fund and promote Cleaniac
§ Expand hospital services with more specialists
§ Free and expanded recycling center
§ Friday after-five events
§ Implement the Clear Creek Lake plan
§ Implement the downtown revitalization plan
§ Improve and better maintain the neighborhood park system
§ Reduce the student-teacher ratio in schools
§ Create a pedestrian railroad overpass at South Second Street to link the Community Y and new library
§ Reduce residential and commercial property taxes
§ Restore the Tallcorn Towers
§ Revitalize areas under the viaducts plan
§ Revitalize homes and neighborhoods through incentives
§ Have sidewalks throughout town and pedestrian-friendly streets
§ Strengthen and expand wireless Internet access.
